Kollel Bnei Torah of Lakewood Visits David Elliot Poultry Plant in Scranton
The members of Kollel Bnei Torah of Lakewood, under the guidance of the rosh kollel, Rav Avrohom Lefkowitz, recently traveled to Scranton, Pennsylvania, to tour the David Elliot Poultry Plant. The kollel is currently learning Hilchos Melicha, which is part of their overall limud of Issur V’heter. This trip was organized to give the kollel yungeleit a look at the practical applications of what they are learning.
Rav Mordechai Dov Fine, morah d’asra of Congregation Machzikeh Hadas of Scranton, met with the group and spoke with the yungeleit. Mr. Moshe Fink, president of David Elliot, personally led the tour, during which the kollel members were able to observe shechita, bedikas ofos, and the melicha process.
The kollel davened Mincha at Yeshiva Bais Moshe in Scranton and met with the rosh yeshiva and rabbeim.
Scranton is one of the oldest Jewish communities in the United States. It has a proud history of supporting Torah learning and perpetuating Torah values. Kollel Bnei Torah is most grateful to Mr. Moshe Fink and appreciative of the warm welcome they received during their visit to Scranton.
